About This Vintage Martin Guitar
1948 Martin 000-28 #104670
Be sure to check out the other vintage guitars from the Ed Simpkins collection - 1937 Martin 0-17H, 1951 Gibson J-45, 1954 Martin D-18.
This guitar was purchased in 1982. When it was obtained, the neck was reset, first 5 frets replaced, and the bridge was replaced. This guitar is very playable as is, but will need service to make it a players guitar up the neck. There are no cracks outside of slight lifting from the pickguard near the bridge.
The guitar is gorgeous. The patina is sublime. The finish on the back and parts of the side are gone, you can feel the smooth rosewood under it. The finish on the neck gone and the smooth soft Mahogany neck left. Original finish, bridge plate, tuners, pickguard, and case.
There are a few pictures at the end of the set of the previous owner enjoying the instrument.
